Synopsis: Carol White, a San Fernando Valley woman, is completely defined by her status as an upper-middle-class wife. Nothing is notable about her life, except periodic attacks of coughing and nose bleeding. She is finally diagnosed allergic to the 20th century, hypersensitive to the ills of our time. She retreats to the Wrenwood Institute in New Mexico.
